This Review takes an international perspective on the economics of climate change. Climate change is a global issue that requires a global response. The science tells us that emissions have the same effects from wherever they arise. The implication for the economics is that this is clearly and unambiguously an international collective action problem with all the attendant difficulties of generating coherent action and of avoiding free riding. It is a problem requiring international cooperation and leadership.

UN - Gateway to the UN Systems Work on Climate Change
At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia, in December 2007, 187 countries agreed to launch a two-year process of formal negotiations on strengthening international efforts to address the problem of global warming. The key issues under the so-called Bali Action Plan, are defined as taking action to adapt to the negative consequences of climate change, such as droughts and floods; devising ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; finding ways to deploy climate-friendly technology; and financing adaptation and mitigation measures. Mitigation, adaptation, technology and financial resources have since become the four key building blocks for strengthening the global response to climate change.
UNEP - Global Outlook for Ice and Snow
Ice, snow and climate change are closely linked. The Global Outlook for Ice and Snow investigates those linkages. It also presents information on the trends in ice and snow, the outlook for this century and beyond and the consequences to ecosystems and human well-being of these changes. It covers all parts of the cryosphere (the world of ice): snow, land ice, sea ice, river and lake ice, and frozen ground. The Global Outlook for Ice and Snow was written by more than 70 scientists from around the world.

WWF Global
This free site from WWF is available in 10 different languages and focuses on teaching children (UK KS2) about climate change in the Arctic (but also includes Maths and Science) through the adventures of two polar bear cubs. Young people can play games with graphics that look at aspects of life on the Arctic but also have links to the UK curriculum - mainly in Science and Maths. Snowballs and collector cards on Arctic species can be earned by playing the games. It is possible to enter an online league with other users all over Europe. A good range of lesson plans and worksheets are available.
